Change

How would I change the educational system? I wouldn't know where to start. I think the people who were on the film we saw in class had some really good ideas. Now we just need to find how to apply and refine these ideas and bring them to the masses. I guess allowing children to learn on their own, giving them freedom to explore, while teaching principles of the subject. Not forcing them to fit in a box. As many people can see it is not working.

Finding out how each child learns and when a good time to learn a certain subject would be revolutionary. Building education around the child would be great. I have thought a lot about homeschooling my children. I have been talking to some of my friends who are doing this. One of my friends said that the state requires at least four hours a day of learning. This can include field trips. The same friend put her children back into the public school system and said that her children have tested at grade level or above in some subjects. She put them back in for the social aspect. She gets her ideas for teaching subjects from the internet and from the books she teaches out of. This same friend was home schooled and felt she missed out on the social side of things. She did graduate before she was 17 and was in college way before me. Is this the answer for everyone? No.

Like I said at the beginning I don't have any fresh ideas to resolve this problem. In the mean time I will do all I can to support new ideas and bring about change.
